The main project for the course was to build a Camera Obscura inside Gerald's Garage (YAAG Gallery). After some preliminary test and research installation began.

The first steps were to clean out the garage and then to make it light tight using tin foil. (Tinfoil is both light tight and cheap)

Once this was done a lens need to be installed. Due to some mistake in the early math I acquired the incorrect lens. This however lead to the acquisition of several lenses which in turn lead to the possibility of having two Obscuras in the same place.

As the light coming down near the garage was at times undesirable, we opted to put mirrors on the outside to control what was seen.

A name was created and a date set for the opening.

At the opening of the "STEREOBSCURA" viewers were welcomed in by myself (titled The Great Lague for the performance) and my lovely assistant Ned. (Who was able to lend me a hand for the performance) As people came in Ned and I sealed the door and performed as if the device was not working correctly. We were able to communicate through the use of walkie-talkies and the spectacle of the device was shown. For more information on the intention of the work please click here.

Special thanks to Ned, Gerald, Margaret, and William. Without all of your efforts that day would not have been as spectacular as it was.
