Before the Garage was to be created we needed to do a small scale test to understand the concept as well as see if there was any way we could get some lenses to work with it. What was created was a pinhole camera called the "CAROUSEL OBSCURA".

The camera was made from an old Kodak Carousel case that Gerald had laying around.

Although the premise of the device was solid (Gerald has lots of experience with pin hole cameras) the lenses made it very difficult to make a focused image. We could only see something in focus if the screen we were using was a few centimeters away from the lens. In my research I had seen this image:

ABELARDO MORELL- Light Bulb, 1991

Intrigued I took some of the design models from this camera and applied them to the CAROUSEL OBSCURA. I made some modifications to the existing box.

I moved the hold from the bottom to the side.

I added the garbage bag "hood".

I also sealed the edges using aluminum foil covered in duct tape.
This was successful.
